Had a great time in Hangzhou, presenting our two workshop posters at IROS 2025.

The past week, I have had the opportunity to travel to Hangzhou in the south of China to partake in the 2025 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems.

On Monday morning, I presented our poster for the project Inductive Biases for Predicting Deformation and Stress in Deformable Object Grasps with GNNs, sharing key improvements on state-of-the-art methods to predict object deformations in robotic grasps. Additionally, I presented our collaboration on Real-Time Simulation of Deformable Tactile Sensors in Robotic Grasping using GNNs, using this improved architecture to instead predict the deformation of soft tactile gripper fingers in grasps.

During the main conference, I enjoyed listening to the talks in my areas of interest, getting lots of inspiration at the poster sessions, and catching up with old as well as making new friends.

A real highlight was the tour of Unitree robotics, where we received a demo of the products as well as touring the factory!

I am grateful for all these great experiences and looking forward to the next opportunity with the robotics community!
